MoveNow: Empowering the next generation to be bold, confident, and optimistic for tomorrow

MoveNow is Allianz’s overarching social impact program and the framework that guides our social impact work globally. It promotes holistic individual and community development across three pillars: Move the Mind, Move the Body, and Move Society. MoveNow advocates resilience, belonging, and inclusive participation.
Originally launched in 2022 as a global initiative in partnership with the International Olympic Committee, MoveNow was designed to inspire young people to stay active during the pandemic. Grounded in an independent research study on the benefits of sports and physical activity, it quickly became one of Allianz’s most engaging and impactful social initiatives.
Through our "Move the Body" initiatives, Allianz encourages everyday movement, creates more opportunities for young people to participate in sports, and helps build environments that support healthier and more connected communities.
From MoveNow sports camps to movement-focused health campaigns, our initiatives have supported young people across the globe to grow, thrive, and belong.

2024

We launched the Power of Unity program at the end of 2024 to bridge divides, foster belonging, and restore confidence in a shared future. And now it’s time for the next step. Get ready for the Unity Awards – celebrating those who bring people together through sports. The Unity Awards – launched together with the International Olympic Committee – recognize individuals who use sport as an enabler to address social or community challenges, fostering inclusion and connection that makes sport more than just a game.

Under the hashtag #MoveNowForParis2024, we created the first TikTok Challenge of our MoveNow Club to get young people moving. Eight TikTok influencers launched the 24-second surfing warm-up challenge, with two of the influencer posts among the top performing Olympic-related content in August with over 16 million views. Look out for the next challenge in 2023.

Bringing “joy in movement” was the goal of the first Allianz MoveNow Camp – Basketball Edition. Hosted on the FC Bayern Munich Campus from 26 to 28 August 2022, 35 children were invited to spend three days trying out various sports, including basketball, wheelchair basketball and athletics.

In August 2022, we organized a Hackathon for more than 100 participants from the Young Leaders Forum at the European Championships Munich 2022.
We also draw on sports engagement and movement as powerful entry points to tackle broader social challenges faced by young people today such as literacy gaps, civic engagement, and the empowerment of vulnerable groups. By linking physical activity with these wider social needs, MoveNow aims to strengthen confidence, resilience, and opportunities for youth around the world

Through the MoveNow Program we have, together with the International Olympic Committee, commissioned an independent research study to identify young people’s engagement with sports and physical activity.

We surveyed five thousand youths between 12 and 24 years and two thousand parents across 10 countries. What we found out: while the majority of parents and young people recognize the benefits of playing sport, the level of engagement remains insufficient.

Importance

90% of young people play sports to improve physical health. Those who are active at least once a week are more likely to report a positive mood and self-confidence.
Girl playing basketball in the gym, figure 46%

Young people find it easier to concentrate at school when doing physical activity (46%). In addition, they develop “human capital,” including knowledge and teamwork.

Seventy-two percent (72%) of young people think playing sports is important, including 32% who think it is very important.
